West Seneca Police are warning residents about a big spike in crime that typically accompanies the holidays.

Police say an officer arrived to a scene at the Dollar General in Seneca Ridge Plaza early Saturday morning.

They say a suspect tried to burglarize the store by backing a car through the front doors.

Police say the suspect led them on a car chase into Buffalo.

There's no word if that suspect was arrested.

It's the latest in what investigators say is a huge increase in burglaries and thefts from garages, cars, businesses, porches, and construction sites.

While they have been increasing patrols, police say no area of West Seneca has been immune to those crimes.

They're reminding residents that the best way to be proactive is to lock your garages, doors, and windows every night.

If you see or hear something suspicious, call 911 immediately.
