LOCKPORT, N.Y. – Lockport police announced Wednesday two juveniles have been charged with intentional homicide and criminal possession of a weapon in connection to the Halloween party shooting along Niagara Street on October 17.

Both defendants, 16 and 17-year-old males, have been arraigned in Niagara Falls city court. The next court date is October 26 at 9:30 a.m. Their names are not being released.

Cheyenne Farewell of Medina died from her injuries near the incident location. Five others were injured.

Officials said the community, Cheyenne, and her family deserve justice. Officials say the other shooting victims are two 16-year-olds, one 15-year-old, and two 21-year-olds.

The Niagara Falls District Attorney took the time to address the rise in violence in county. The county has had 16 homicides this year alone. The DA praised law enforcement, however, citing 12 arrests have been made in those incidents.

In a statement, Lockport Mayor Michelle Roman praised the efforts of the police department, and urged the community to come forward with any and all information that might help the prosecution.

“As was announced at our press conference today, the Lockport Police Department charged two juvenile males, ages 16 and 17, with the Friday night death of Cheyenne Farewell.
