A new group is now tasked with recommending police policies and developing strategies for social change in Buffalo.

Friday, Mayor Byron Brown announced the commission to recommend police policy and advance social reconstruction.

According to Brown, the commission's goal is to find ways policing can be improved and reformed for future officer training.

The mayor says the commission must also develop plans to eliminate economic in equality, increase quality of life, and create opportunities for minority members of the community.

The commission is made up of local leaders in law enforcement, social justice, and community activism as well as city officials.

The mayor says he's expecting a commission report from those members within 60 days.
