After starting day 2 of the NHL Draft by trading defenseman Connor Clifton, the Buffalo Sabres have added several players to their prospect pool.
The Sabres selected defenseman Radim Mrtka with the ninth pick of the NHL Draft Friday and then added another piece to the blue line by selecting Owen Sound (OHL) defenseman David Bedkowski in the third round. The 6-foot-5, 221-pound, right-shot defenseman had seven points in 35 games this past year.
With a pair of picks in the fourth round, the Sabres drafted forward Matous Kucharcik 103rd overall and goaltender Samuel Meloche 116th overall.
In the fifth round, the Sabres selected defenseman Noah Laberge 135th overall pick.
The Sabres selected forward Ashton Schultz with the 167th overall pick.
In the seventh round, the Sabres selected forward Melvin Novotny 195th overall, goaltender Yevgeni Prokhorov with the 199th pick and center Ryan Rucinski with their final pick (219th).
