DALLAS — There has been a confirmed case of the measles involving a student at Willow Spring Middle School in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, according to Collin County Health Care Services on Wednesday.

Willow Spring Middle School, which is located in Lucas, Texas, is working closely with public health officials to notify anyone who could have potentially been exposed to the student. The middle school is a part of the Lovejoy Independent School District.

No identifying information about the student has been released at this time. It is unclear if the student was vaccinated.

Collin County Health Care Services reported a measles case on April 18, where an individual visited three stores in North Texas on April 10 and 11 while still infectious. It is unclear if the two cases are related.

It is also unclear if this measles case is connected to the growing outbreak in West Texas, where most cases have been unvaccinated children. As of Tuesday, there have been over 600 confirmed cases of the measles from the outbreak.
