CAPE CANAVERAL SPACE FORCE STATION — SpaceX successfully launched another batch of Starlink satellites into low-Earth orbit on Monday.

The company’s Falcon 9 rocket carried 28 satellites from pad 40 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.

This is the 17th flight for the first stage booster supporting the Starlink Group 6-80 mission. It has previously launched:

  • Ax-2

  • Euclid

  • Ax-3

  • CRS-30

  • SES ASTRA 1P

  • NG-21

  • 10 Starlink missions

Following stage separation, the first stage will land on the Just Read the Instructions droneship, stationed in the Atlantic Ocean.

About the mission

The 28 satellites from the Starlink company, owned by SpaceX, join the thousands already in low-Earth orbit.

Once deployed, and in their orbit, they will provide internet service to many parts of Earth.

Dr. Jonathan McDowell, of Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, has been recording Starlink satellites.

Before this launch, McDowell recorded the following:

  • 7,129 are in orbit

  • 6,496 are in operational orbit
