COLUMBUS, Ohio — It's less than 3 days until Election Day, and people are already making their voices heard at the polls.
“And the ability to make your voice heard is what makes it important, and this is a great turnout, love to see it,” said Dominic Brenner, a Franklin County voter.
The Franklin County Board of Elections was packed Saturday morning with people in line to vote early.
“It’s a voluntary exercise, but something we have the right to do," Brenner said. "It’s what makes this country great. If you don’t like something, you can go out and change it, make your voice your vote."
Brenner said there’s definitely particular issues he’s voting for, but ultimately he’s happy people are out voting, regardless of what their political beliefs are.
Anjelica Attia also said she wants to make sure her voice is heard.
“I was actually amazed," Attia said. "I am not a person to wait in line, and it’s cold out here, so I had to do it, but I was happy to see everybody out here regardless of their opinions."
Aaron Sellers with the Franklin County Board of Elections said turnout has been fantastic, with lines wrapping around the entire building.
“We’re now over 117,000 folks registered voters here in Franklin county," Sellers said. "That number will continue to grow for the remainder of this day and 1 to 5 p.m. tomorrow."
Sellers said they have reached a record for early, in person voting, and the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections said the same thing. They broke their record for early in-person voters from 2008 and expect to have around 60,000 people vote by the end of the day.
“We’re voting about 800 people an hour, so the line is longer today, but it’s moving," Sellers said. "It’s always moving."
Sunday will be the last day of early in person voting from 1 to 5 p.m.
