Construction crews at the new Buffalo Bills stadium were joined by the Buffalo Fire Department, first responders from additional local agencies and county officials to honor all of the lives lost in the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.

Everyone came together at the stadium construction site on what will, in less than two years, be the new home field for the Bills.

Taps was played and there was a moment of silence honoring the victims who died that day.

They did this during what crews call a safety stand down, which they take part in daily. But today, this was a remembrance stand down.

"Military wears a uniform. First responders wear a uniform. And construction workers wear a uniform. And that day, I was in New York City and near and dear to me I am a veteran of the United States Navy," said Joe Byrne, Bills stadium construction project director. "And that day, when the first responders went into the buildings, the construction workers were right behind them, not asking to be paid, not being called in. On their own. It shows the belief in America and that we will not be knocked down and today was kind of a rekindling of the term never forget."
