JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — Eduardo Benedetto loves Lucy, and recently made the more than-5,000-mile trip from his home in Buenos Aires, Argentina, to Jamestown to visit the Lucille Ball Desi Arnaz Museum.

What You Need To Know

  • A new top 100 survey ranked the Lucy-Desi Museum as No. 35 on the list of top deceased celebrity destinations

  • When broken out by state, the poll shows the museum was No. 1

  • Graceland sits at the top of the national list

Part of his visit included touring the sets from "I Love Lucy," a show he fondly remembers watching with his mother when he was a young boy.

"A lot of great memories. Laughing and laughing with her. To be here and see all these props, and all these sceneries and sets it's a great thing. It's a dream for me," said Benedetto.

He's been dreaming of going to the museum for years and when he finally arrived, he got to live out one of the most talked about "I Love Lucy" episodes of all time, "Vitametavegamin."

Benedetto quoted Lucy's most famous scene from the episode: "Are you tired? Run down? Listless? Do you poop out at parties? Then you need Vitametavegamin. It's so tasty, too!"

He also learned a few things along the way about the early days, life and careers of the characters he grew up with.

"You remember the joy and the happiness, and you get emotion. I can't believe it to be here, I can't believe it to be here. I didn't realize when I planned this trip, that it would be so emotional to me," said Benedetto.

He's not alone. A recent poll ranks the Lucille Ball/Desi Arnaz Museum as the nation's 35th favorite deceased celebrity pilgrimage site, but when you break it down by state, the museum is the number one favorite.

"I think it's wonderful that you don't have to go far to experience things that are really special. See it through Lucille Ball's eyes. Where she grew up, her old stomping grounds and even her final resting place," said Kate Welshofer, communications strategist with the National Comedy Center.

Museum leaders welcome the recognition they say shows just how much love there still is for Lucille Ball from all generations.

"We've had people from all 50 states, 27 countries and counting, coming here to celebrate her and learn more about her as well," Welshofer said.

That includes Benedetto.

"This is a very great opportunity to live again this moment. Really, really, I love Lucy," said Benedetto.

Rounding out the top five in the state on the survey include the birthplace of Theodore Roosevelt, John Lennon's residence and Grant's Tomb, all in New York City, as well as Mark Twain's summer home in Elmira.

Topping the list nationally is Graceland, the Memphis, Tenn., home of Elvis Presley.
