After roughly five weeks on the job, De'Lenci Shannon-Brown has been removed from his role as Erie County assistant district attorney following an investigation into official misconduct after allegedly sharing confidential information with a convicted felon, according to the DA's office.

Acting Erie County District Attorney Mike Keane says Shannon-Brown, 28, has been charged with one count of official misconduct. He was also charged in an unrelated traffic stop with one count of driving while ability impaired by drugs. Shannon-Brown was issued an appearance ticket and released.

Keane and Buffalo Police Commissioner Joseph Gramaglia on Thursday announced what details they could about the investigation and charges into the former prosecutor.

"Nobody is above the law," said Keane. "You know, we hire our attorneys and our support staff and we entrust them with confidential information. And it's an outrage that this behavior took place. It's an outrage that he violated that trust."

"We all take this matter extremely seriously and moved rapidly," added Gramaglia. "There's an expectation that we have to be a step above. We have to be, you know, above that fray. And we are certainly going to come down as hard as possible."

Keane did iterate that Shannon-Brown, who was assigned to the DA’s Buffalo City Court Bureau, is innocent until proven guilty. Authorities wanted to present to the public the speed and extent of severity something like this is being dealt with.
