CLEVELAND — A memorial service for fallen Cleveland Police Officer Jamieson Ritter is scheduled for Monday.

According to a release from the Cleveland Division of Police, the service will start at 10 a.m. at the Cathedral of Saint John the Evangelist in Cleveland. The funeral will be out of state.

Ritter, a native of upstate New York, was killed in the early hours of Thursday while responding to a call about a male wanted for felonious assault. He was shot while he and other officers were attempting to arrest the suspect and was taken to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

An obituary on the Chambers Funeral Homes website states a private entombment will be at the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Rochester, New York.

The obituary directs memorial contributions toward the Cleveland Police Foundation.

The suspect was arrested and charged with aggravated murder. Bond was set at $5 million.
