The 2024 NHL Draft is officially in the books and the Buffalo Sabres made a flurry of picks.
The Sabres selected center Konsta Helenius in the first round of the draft Friday night.
Helenius was the 14th overall pick. The Finnish forward has been playing in SM-liiga the past two seasons. He put up 36 points in 51 games last year with Jukurit Mikkeli. The 18-year-old stands at 5'11" and weighs 180 lbs.
On Sunday, the Sabres acquired forward Beck Malenstyn from the Washington Capitals in exchange for the 43rd overall pick on Saturday.
The Sabres spent four of their picks on defensemen.
Some of the names joining the blue and gold include Adam Kleber, Brodie Ziemer and Luke Osburn.
The Sabres also picked a hometown guy, defenseman Patrick Geary, in the sixth round.
