Monroe County Court Judge Meredith Vacca was introduced Wednesday as President Joe Biden's nominee to serve on the Western District of New York's federal court.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer introduced Vacca at a nomination hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee Wednesday.
If confirmed, she'd be the first Asian American and first woman of color to serve as a judge on the bench for Western New York.
"I can think of nobody more qualified to serve on the District Court for the Western District of New York than Rochester’s own Meredith Vacca," Schumer said. "I’m extremely proud to support her nomination."
Vacca already serves as an acting state Supreme Court judge and graduated from the University at Buffalo's law school.
