The Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority will shut down their above-ground Metro Rail service for construction starting Tuesday, May 28, officials announced Thursday. The shutdown will continue through Sunday, June 2.

This closure will allow for upgrades to be made to the track bed and electrical system.

The NFTA will provide a shuttle service running every 20 minutes between Allen Medical Campus and Canalside Station. Transit employees will be on-site to assist passengers.

"This work is part of our overall plan for rail renewal and necessary in maintaining the integrity and efficiency of our system,” said James Morrell, NFTA's director of public transit. "We appreciate the patience and understanding of our passengers during this temporary pause."
