Erie County District Attorney John Flynn says he will be stepping down from his post on March 31 to join the law firm Lippes Mathias.
Flynn, who became DA in 2017, said he believes no one should serve more than two terms in office, which is one of the reasons as to why he is making this move.
Flynn says he hopes he made a mark on Western New York during his tenure.
"I felt for the past seven years that it was my responsibility to let everyone know what is going on, and to be transparent, and to help foster a sense of security in the community and that is what this is all about. It is about public safety,” he said. “I think I have been successful with that in the past seven years and I hope that is my legacy."
Erie County First Deputy District Attorney Michael Keane will temporarily take over for Flynn.
