Since his death when Flight 3407 crashed in Clarence Center in February 2009, John Fiore’s family has been giving back to Western New Yorkers who need it most. This weekend is the 14th golf tournament at Willowbrook Golf Course in Lockport, in his honor. Ron Aughtmon, John’s nephew, and Chris Kreiger from WNY Heroes joined Your Morning on Spectrum News 1 Buffalo to get the word out about the event.

To date, more than $500 million has been donated. The Ronald McDonald House has received more than $277,000 of that, and $56,000 has been donated to WNY Heroes over the last three years.

During our interview, Kreiger surprised Aughtmon by sharing that the newest dog that's part of the Pawsitive for Heroes Program is named Fiore, after the foundation.

This weekend's event is sold out to get on the course. However, there are plenty of items up for auction, including a signed Damar Hamlin jersey, as well as dinner tickets.
