Western New York has many beautiful parks and with a winter like the last one, it’s no surprise if people want to get out and enjoy the nicer weather.
But getting to the parks is not always easy for everyone. That’s where the Parks Adventure Bus comes in.
This is the second year of the bus, and there are NINE destinations it will travel to throughout the summer. The service is on select Saturdays and it is free. The goal is to make parks more accessible to all this summer.
Parks served include:
- Knox Farm State Park
- Chestnut Ridge Park
- Fort Niagara State Park
- Reinstein Woods Nature Preserve
- Como Lake Park
- Beaver Island State Park
- Akron Falls Park
- Evangola State Park
- Emery County Park
“We’re very excited to have the Parks Adventure Bus here for the second year,” NFTA communications manager Kelly Khatib said. “We make sure that this is a free service that everyone can get because we want to make sure that everyone in Western New York can enjoy our parks. We’ve seen deer, rabbits, birds…there are so many beautiful things to see and you can just kick back and enjoy nature."

“New York State Parks is proud and happy to partner once again with the NFTA to offer the Parks Adventure Bus this summer," New York State Parks Commissioner Erik Kulleseid said. "We look forward to welcoming riders to our participating parks and witnessing their delight in seeing our special landscapes, many for the first time. State Parks is grateful to the NFTA for their work to make this happen once again.”
