BUFFALO, N.Y. — The WNY for Hope Diaper and Hygiene Drive is underway, benefiting two organizations based in East Buffalo - Every Bottom Covered and Home Beneath Our Feet.
This is the second year of the drive - the first year was last year, after the Buffalo mass shooting. Hope Rises, Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield of Western New York, Buffalo Gives, Delta Sonic and Favordrop are teaming up to make the drive possible.
Bins are placed at all Delta Sonic locations across Western New York, as well as Buffalo Balloon Company in Williamsville, Carte Blanche and Hamburg Brewing.
According to Investopedia, within the first year of a child's life, families should budget $1,000 for diapers and $450 for wipes. That's about $120 a month, and not everyone can easily afford that.
“Think about families that have to make the decision of buying something to eat versus even getting the care of the child like diapers or hygiene products,” said Dwight Lowe, with Home Beneath Our Feet. “This drive is super important to get it to the hands that's facing those challenges.”
The drive runs until May 8.
