FeedMore Western New York and Meals on Wheels are taking part in America's annual March for Meals campaign.

March is the anniversary of legislation that set up a national seniors nutrition program some 50 years ago. It put Meals on Wheels front and center in addressing senior hunger in communities across the country.

Meals on Wheels doesn't just get food to seniors in need, but also serves as a lifeline for more than 2.8 million Americans.

"This is the contact that home-bound residents have with other residents of the community," said Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown. "Some don't have families, some don't have friends or neighbors that look out for them, so not only is nutrition being provided, but friendship is being provided as well."

If you want to get involved in Meals on Wheels locally, the organization is looking for volunteers across Erie and Niagara counties.
