Bills defensive tackle Ed Oliver has been named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week for the first time after a dominant and historic performance in the team’s 28-25 win over the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving.

Oliver became the first player in team history to record a sack, forced fumble, fumble recovery and safety in a single game. He's one of only four players in the last 10 seasons to record this stat line (joining Khalil Mack (2020), Justin Houston (2019) and Cameron Wake (2013)).

The performance against the Lions continues a trend of stellar Thanksgiving play for the former No. 3 overall pick. In three games on the holiday, he has recorded 14 tackles, 3.5 sacks, 3 tackles for loss, 2 forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and a safety.

This marks the first time Oliver has won the honor.
