BUFFALO, N.Y. — With a major snowstorm appearing to be on the way, the City of Buffalo is bracing for impact.

Buffalo city officials held a press conference Wednesday, where they said they will be working hard to keep the streets clear for motorists, but added residents need to make sure cars are out of the way.

Nate Marton, Buffalo’s Department of Public Works, Parks and Streets commissioner, says they will work to make sure there is a minimal backlog as possible — and that's going to mean potentially moving some cars along the streets to make sure plows can do their job, and try and stay ahead of the heavy snowfall as it comes in.

“Again, we can clear the streets for the residents. That's really what it's about,” said Marton. “So hopefully we don't run into that, we have people following the parking guidelines. Inevitably it might happen, and we'll do what we can to help clear that car out of the way to really clear the snow."

Marton and other officials talked about the multifaceted response how plows will be out when the snow hits. They have a full slate of plow drivers, and they'll even have a little bit of help from the New York State Department of Transportation in trying to again stay ahead of what is to come over the weekend.

Maron added that this is the city of good neighbors, the entire community will be out trying to help one another — and that's one thing Buffalonians can always expect.
