BRADENTON, Fla. — A 2-year-old boy has drowned in a canal at VIEW Carlton Arms apartments in Bradenton on Friday, according to Bradenton Police.
It happened in the 4000 block of Carlton Inlet Drive, police said.
Bradenton Police Chief Melanie Bevan says the child, who lives in the apartment complex, was found in a canal behind an apartment building at about 10:31 a.m. by a witness who called 911. Bevan said the witness pulled the child from the water, and remained on the scene. EMS arrived at approximately 10:36 a.m., and Bradenton Police officers were on the scene by 10:40 a.m., said Bevan.
Officials say the child was pronounced dead at the scene.
The child's family was located at the apartment complex, according to Bevan, and Bradenton Police are working with them to determine the circumstances surrounding the child's death.
