Niagara Falls is one of the most recognized natural resources in the world. Hundreds of thousands of people flock there every year to get a selfie and make a lifelong memory. Since 1841, the Cave of the Winds at Niagara Falls State Park has been offering visitors a unique view of the falls.
The original cave took onlookers behind the Bridal Veil Falls, but when that collapsed in 1920 a series of wooden walkways were installed to take people in front of this natural wonder.
To help you get the full experience sandals and plastic ponchos come with the price of admission. There was a time when you had to wait in line for sometimes hours, but a recent multi-million dollar upgrade to the park brought timed ticketing and a more efficient experience.
An elevator was installed in the 1920’s. Today a more modern version will take you 17 stories down, or 175 feet, in just 30 seconds. The walkways and the soon to be fully installed hurricane deck will take right next to and almost into the falls at the base of gorge.
The views are stunning, but be prepared to get wet.
