BUFFALO, N.Y. — Just a day after the retirement of Police Commissioner Byron Lockwood, Mayor Byron Brown has announced his successor.
Joseph Gramaglia appointed as the new Buffalo Police Department Commissioner.
He previously served as Deputy Police Commissioner starting in 2018 and has been with the department for 25 years commanding the Homicide investigation unit and several patrol districts.
Brown's other appointees include Cavette Chambers as Corporation Counsel, making her the first Jamaican-American woman in the position.
He also nominated Cathy Amdur as the Department of Permit and Inspections Service's first female commissioner.
The Common Council will now consider these appointments.
