BUFFALO, N.Y. — The City of Buffalo continues to recognize Black History Month.
Mayor Byron Brown hosted a celebration at Buffalo City Hall on Thursday to honor local African Americans who have made significant contributions to the community. They included pastors, youth mentors, judges and other community members.
In addition to honoring the many important characters of the city, the mayor also recognized the record-breaking era Buffalo now finds itself in.
"I am proud to say that in city government, Buffalo now has its most diverse workforce in the entire history of the City of Buffalo," Brown said. "And that is a city founded in 1832, and that is something we can all be proud of."
Earlier this month, Brown kicked off the first Feb-Fest, which featured black-owned retail pop-up shops across Buffalo throughout the month.
