BUFFALO, N.Y. — Buffalo Public Schools have seen a recent increase in graduation rates.
The district says the four-year graduation rate climbed by 2% for BPS high schools, resulting in a total of 78.5% of the student population graduating.
The graduation rates for English language learners and students with disabilities both rose as well, while the dropout rate decreased from 12.5% to 10%.
The district says these increases are because of new academic and behavioral support systems put in place during the pandemic.
The graduation rate is up one percent across the state.
The state education department says the cancellation of regents exams likely played a role in that, but is not sure how much.
