BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Buffalo Public School District continues to address to violent incident at McKinley High School last week.
The Board of Education affirmed it would be moving forward with parts of Superintendent Dr. Kriner Cash’s reset plan, which includes new administrators and increased staff and security.
The BOE says McKinley will remain a priority and that their main focus is to bring all students back to in-person learning safely.
“We need to take a long hard looking at the circumstances leading up to the event,” Buffalo BOE President Louis Petrucci said. “The Board of Education will be directing the superintendent to conduct a study and report the findings. We will also be asking the districts to revisit their school safety plans given the present learning environment.”
The district is changing the original plan a bit by pushing back when McKinley students will return to in-person class. Seniors will not be back February 28 and juniors will return March 2. That decision is based on feedback from parents, staff and administrators.
