BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Campaign for Greater Buffalo History has been granted a preliminary injunction to preserve the Great Northern Grain Elevator.

The campaign filed a lawsuit against the City of Buffalo in December after the city issued an emergency demolition order on the building.

The owner, Archer Daniels Midland, planned to destroy the 124-year-old grain elevator after it suffered significant damage in a windstorm.

The campaign believes that demolition is unnecessary as the building is still structurally sound and has been a designated Buffalo landmark since 1990.

The case will now go to the New York Supreme Court Appellate Division.
