With temperatures dropping, along with general season illness, January is a tough month for blood donations. Right now, there’s a critical need in Western New York.
And if you help fill that need, you might score a chance to see the Buffalo Bills live this weekend as ConnectLife is giving away tickets to Saturday’s Wild Card playoff game between the Bills and the Patriots when you come in and make a donation.
ConnectLife will pick one lucky winner to receive a pair of tickets each day until Friday.
It’s all to help with the dangerously short supply of blood donations, not only in this region, but nationwide.
Officials say the level of blood supply throughout the country is as low as it’s ever been. The cold weather and COVID have kept people away, but it’s important to know they’re taking every precaution while you’re donating.
“It's important that people know that it's safe to donate blood?” Amanda Farrell, ConnectLife director of blood recruitment, said. “We make sure that we adhere to social distancing, we follow additional cleaning and decontamination. So as long as you're feeling healthy and well, we encourage you to donate and every drop of blood that's donated with ConnectLife stays right here in Western New York.“
