LANCASTER, N.Y. — A neighborhood in Lancaster is lighting up their streets this Christmas for a cause.

'Stony Brook Shines for Others' is an event that raises money for children's charities. The trees, the sidewalks, the houses, all lit up as a winter wonderland.

To date, group members say they've raised more than $300,000. The effort started  a decade ago.

This year, the money is going to 'Little Smiles of Western New York,' a nonprofit that helps children who've experienced some kind of serious trauma.

"The lady Jan and Harry...We're kind of working on getting transferred to other people to do it. But it's gonna take a while. They've done it for so long, they knew all the ins and outs," Tony Dittmer, Stony Brook resident, said.

Organizers say most lights come on at dusk and remain on until 9:30 to 10 p.m.

You can check out the lights until January 1.
