ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — Gloomy weather at the Oct. 31 matchup at Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park didn’t dampen Bills Mafia fever.
There were three major reasons to get excited. There was, of course, the Bills, celebrations of some fans’ birthdays, and then there was Halloween.
Regardless of the date, Bills fans are always all about preparation.
“You have to look good for the Bills games,” said Lucy Piscitelli of Buffalo.
On game day, Bills fans have various traditions. And for some, it’s getting their hair braided.
Braidbabes, a team of mobile hairstylists, sets up a tent before home games and lets fans choose what hairstyles they’d like to wear while cheering on the team.
For some people, this has turned into good luck charms.
Kirsten Stofle says that she won’t even enter the stadium until her hair is done and she is donning red and blue shimmery makeup.
“My husband and I have been season tickets holders for 10 years,” Stofle said. “We go all out for the games.”
While she has a long-standing game-day tradition of getting glammed up, a Buffalo family decided to start a new tradition that they’ll continue for many Halloweens to come.
Six-year-old Blake and his family all wore bear costumes with their Bills jerseys.
Before the game and each time, the team scored, they passed out candy, what they called a “Bills reverse trick-or-treat.”
No matter what traditions Bills fans follow, they all go crazy for their hometown heroes.
