NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. — Western New Yorkers are eager to learn the latest cooking trends at the Niagara Falls Culinary Institute.
“These culinary classes are my favorite part of my job,” said Emily Lonigan, community education director. “I love bringing members of the public into see our facility.”
Members of the public come from all different cooking backgrounds, with one common denominator: they want to spice up their recipes.
For college student Melissa Wachob, this is the very first time she’s ever cooked anything.
“Growing up, I had the privilege of not being forced to do my own cooking and I’ve had other people do it for me my whole life,” explained Wachob.
That is changing, because Wachob has decided that she is going to conquer the kitchen.
This college student understands that just like her studies, learning to cook is going to take time, but she’s willing to keep trying.
Meanwhile, Steven Edmister, is no stranger to the kitchen, seeing that he works at a restaurant in Lockport called “The Hilltop.”
“I just really love cooking,” says Edmister. “It’s a lot of fun.”
