This weekend, the Islamic Circle of North America Relief USA network partnered with community organizations to provide supplies to students for the 2021 school year.

On Saturday, ICNA worked with the Buffalo Islamic Cultural Center during their Back-2-School Giveaway.

Located at the corner of Brinkman and Walden Avenues, the center hosted a community-wide barbeque while giving out supplies, like backpacks, pencils, pens and even afterschool tutoring information to local kids.

The larger campaign will equip 45,000 students across the nation with these essentials.

"They're giving away school supplies and backpacks, a wonderful meal. It's just a nice day for the community," said Lovejoy District Councilman Bryan Bollman.

"And I think the most important part about it is that they're going to be here, and they're showing the willingness to engage with the other parts of the community they're normally not engaged with, so that's the beauty of it also," said Erie County Legislator Howard Johnson.

ICNA Relief also worked with 47 food pantries across 24 states this weekend.
