BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Central Terminal Restoration Corporation unveiled its master plan after having spent a year studying the site and engaging with the community to develop it.
On top of revitalizing the iconic tower, the plan outlines the addition of a civic commons space and the opening of loft-like offices for local startups and non-profits to use.
The CTRC, along with Mayor Byron Brown, hopes the building’s success will draw more social and economic opportunities to the city’s struggling east side.
“Not only do I want to see over $100 million, or whatever is needed to fully restore the terminal,” Mayor Brown said, “I wanted to see millions of dollars go into the surrounding neighborhood, as well. So as the terminal goes, the neighborhood has to rise, as well.”
According to the plan, the project will costs around $275-300 million, which officials plan to pay for through a combination of tax credits and federal funding.
There’s no word yet when construction could begin.
