BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Buffalo Public School District is outlining its reopening guidelines for the upcoming school year.

All students are expected to return to school buildings for full-time instruction five days a week starting Wednesday, September 8.

The superintendent warns families the delta variant could alter the current plans, but he says the district is prepared as best it can be. That includes guidelines like wearing masks indoors at all times, regardless of vaccination status and requiring a minimum of three feet social distancing, as recommended by the CDC.

COVID-19 testing will be done on 30% of staff and students each week with results posted nightly.

Contact tracing will be done according to the Erie County Health Department guidelines. All staff are encouraged and expected to be fully vaccinated.

The district is also testing a program that would allow students to receive in-school vaccinations.
