BUFFALO, N.Y. — Retired priest Reverend Monsignor James Kelly is now on administrative leave after being named in two lawsuits filed under the Child Victims Act.
One lawsuit details Monsignor Kelly’s alleged sexual contact with a child from 2005-2007 while he served at St. Margaret’s in Buffalo. The other lawsuit dates back to the 1980’s, when Kelly served as a priest at St. Nicholas, St. Benedict the Moor and the Diocesan Educational Campus in Buffalo.
The diocese says Monsignor Kelly is retired, but continues to assist in parish ministry. It says he only recently found out about the allegations by searching publically filed complaints.
