Air Show Update: The Blue Angels were unable to perform Saturday due to low cloud coverage, however much of the show did take place, according to Pamm Lent of Governor Andrew Cuomo's office. The Blue Angels are scheduled to perform on Sunday at 3 p.m. Those who had tickets for Saturday that wish to see the Blue Angels Sunday, including those with VIP tickets, will be treated as general admission and are asked to arrive by noon.
BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Thunder on the Buffalo Waterfront Air Show is scheduled to take place this weekend.
If you’re planning to watch the air show in person, boats traveling the Buffalo River or Safe Boat Harbor will have access to the lake, but they must use the Outer Harbor South Gap or the Buffalo River Entrance Channel. For any boaters looking to watch from the water, the green area is the best viewing area. The red area is a restricted space.
Starting at 8 a.m. Saturday and Sunday, both exits from Route 5 to the Outer Harbor will be closed.
Air show traffic will use the Tift Street exits, then follow signage and directions from event staff.
And from 3 – 6 p.m. each day, the right lanes of Route 5 will close near the Outer Harbor for traffic leaving the air show.
If you have tickets, remember, you must attend the date listed on your ticket. They are not interchangeable. Gates open at 10 a.m. Sunday. The Blue Angels are scheduled to perform Sunday at 3 p.m.
The closures will end around 6 p.m. once traffic has cleared.
