LEWISTON, N.Y. — The Lewiston Garden Fest will be back on Center Street this year, making its return after the pandemic canceled it last year. And organizers say its better, and greener, than ever before.
The Lewiston Garden Club puts the event on every year, with the exception of last year due to the pandemic. But now, it’s in-person again this year. They’ll have more than 70 vendors selling flowers, plants and handcrafted art and garden essentials. Festivalgoers can stroll through several gardens throughout the weekend with a free garden walk. There will be crafts for the kids, and representatives from the Cornell Cooperative Extension will be available in Hennepin Park to answer gardening questions and even provide free soil sample analysis.
There are also activities for the kids. They can decorate bumblebee rocks or create tissue flowers, both while supplies last, for a one of a kind souvenir to take home.
Organizers are excited to be back.
“Don’t be overwhelmed and think, well my yard could never look like that,” Judy Talarico, Lewiston Garden Fest chairperson, said. “This didn’t happen overnight. These people have worked on them for years. You can get there so, gardening is very relaxing, especially after the year we’ve had to get outdoors and you can also speak to the vendors on Center Street.”
The Lewiston Garden Fest runs Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
