LOCKPORT, N.Y. — After one of the toughest years on the job, local health care workers are being shown support by management, not with free food or tickets, but with a new contract.
Nearly 200 health care workers unanimously voted to approve a new two year contract at Eastern Niagara Hospital in Lockport.
It includes a one-time retention bonus and a 2.25% general wage increase.
The contract comes after it was reported that Catholic Health planned to shut down the 134-bed facility and build a new hospital as a second campus of Mount Saint Mary's.
The hospital has been struggling financially for years and filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy last summer.
