BUFFALO, N.Y. — A major renovation is revealed at one of Western New York's hospitals.

Mercy Hospital of Buffalo unveiled its new $500,000 project, aimed at improving care and reducing wait times.

Space in the hospital's emergency department was reconfigured to expand private treatment space, dedicate areas for EMS ambulance patients and add pediatric treatment rooms.

The project was funded by the Mercy Hospital Foundation through the generous support of donors.

"Our friends, neighbors, colleagues, and associates came through. Even during the pandemic. And they found Mercy Emergency Department as efficient as it is beautiful. We are humbled and grateful," Fr. Sam Giangreco, Mercy Hospital chaplain, said.

The project expands treatment for non-critically ill patients and those who arrive at the hospital by ambulance.
