LOCKPORT, N.Y. — The youngest students in the Lockport City School District will soon be back in the classroom.
Starting Monday, pre-K through fourth grade will be welcomed back for in-person classes four days a week, while students who prefer distance learning can continue to do so.
Students in school will have to wear masks and have their temperature checked daily. Board members say the district will enforce the updated three foot social distancing guideline.
Emmett Belknap Intermediate, which has fifth and sixth grade students, will remain on the hybrid two-day and remote model, after teachers and administrators raised concerns about the size of the classrooms and number of students.
The school board plans to reset in the fall, and says it hopes for more guidance from the state.
