Take a step back in time for the funkiest night of the year.

The World’s Largest Disco is a tradition here in Western New York, always held the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

“Traditionally people go to the Turkey Trot on Thursday morning,” said Dave Pietrowski, the founder. “And hang out at the disco on Saturday night.”

Usually this event draws 7,000 people, so this year organizers are moving everything online.

By following this link, you‘ll be taken to the online event which will run from 8 p.m. to midnight, with “doors opening” at 7:45 p.m. They’ll run videos and pictures from the event in years past.

“So people can look for themselves if they have ever been to the event and if they haven’t, it’s a great way to experience the event,” said Pietrowski.

Star 102.5 will also take a break from playing their Christmas music to play disco music during the event.

All proceeds from this event always go to Camp Good Days and Special Times, a non-profit that's dedicated to improving the quality of life for children, adults and families whose lives have been touched by cancer.

Pietrowski says they’ve donated more than $6 million over the years.

“So it's important we keep this alive so we can fund their programs,” said Pietrowski. “We won't be nearly as successful as we have in the years past, which is why it's uber important that people go online and make donations."

People can donate through the World’s Largest Disco website or buy a t-shirt to help them raise money this year.

And if you buy a t-shirt, it guarantees you the opportunity to buy tickets for next year’s event, which organizers are already thinking about.

They also encourage people to upload a photo of themselves in their disco gear to be a part of their 2020 mosaic.
