CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. — People near the Cheektowaga Walmart on Walden Avenue could soon have a coronavirus test delivered to their house, by drone.
Walmart has teamed up with Quest Diagnostics and Drone-Up to deliver the do-it-yourself nasal swab kits to anyone within a one mile radius of the location.
Only people living in a single-family home will be able to receive the drove delivery.
After administering the test, people will then use a prepaid shipping envelope to mail the sample to Quest Diagnostics.
The Cheektoawaga location is only the second Walmart in the U.S. to use this new program. Results will help organizers plan how drones can best be used to battle COVID-19 going forward.
