BUFFALO, N.Y. — A failed tech startup that was previously based in Buffalo has been named in a U.S. Senate report on Joe Biden’s son.
BAK USA is listed in a Republican report alleging that Hunter Biden created conflicts of interest for his father by working in the Ukraine while Joe Biden served as vice president.
The report states that back in 2015, BAK USA received money transfers totally more than $241,000 from Elena Baturina, a Russian billionaire accused of receiving illegal construction contracts because she was married to the mayor of Moscow.
Before nine of those transfers arrived, the Senate report says that they were first sent to an investment firm founded by Hunter Biden.
According to the report, the details of those transfers only listed them as loan agreements.
It’s important to note the report found no instances of wrongdoing on Joe Biden’s part, and was unclear on what impact his son’s actions had on policy with the Ukraine.
BAK USA filed for bankruptcy last year with a reported loss of $39 million.
