ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — With tailgating and fan restrictions due to COVID-19, this Buffalo Bills season is anything but normal.
While weather for the home opener is gloomy, that wouldn’t normally stop fans from flocking to Orchard Park to support the Bills.
Hammer's Lot would usually be packed, but Sunday, no one is in sight. It feels like a ghost town with almost empty streets.
Last year at this time, the streets were so packed that traffic was bumper to bumper.
After driving around Sunday, Spectrum News finally found a few people out and about.
One was a Buffalo couple taking a picture of the stadium. They have been season ticket holders for 40 years and were even engaged here. Not being able to tailgate here is sad for them.
"I miss the smell of charcoal, I miss all the food cooking, I miss the horns honking, and people all dressed up. It's just the community, party, you know, it's sad that it's not happening today,” said Joe Miller of South Buffalo.
A reminder: the Erie County Sheriff’s Office says you will be arrested if you are caught coming to Bills Stadium. Fans are not allowed on stadium property or in any of the Bills parking lots.
