Kids as young as seven are learning how to navigate the boats through Sail Buffalo's Junior Sail Camp, and there's still some weeks left. Students are taught skills like rigging, hoisting, trimming, steering, tacking, jibing and so much more. They are also taught about safety and teamwork, while gaining confidence.
Hannah, who is only 8 years old, has been taking sailing lessons for two years now.
"Last year when I started sailing, I did not know anything, but this year, I have my friends and all these boats to help me out," she explained.
When ominous clouds came rolling in one day, Hannah and her friends used the skills they had been taught to handle the waves. Afterwards she added, “The waves were psycho, but we survived it with style and grace."
