What You Need To Know

  • Major flooding hit parts of the village of Medina on Monday following storms that brought heavy rain

  • Many homes had flooding in their basements

  • Emergency crews worked all day and into the night to pump out the water

The rain came down hard for an extended period on Monday. Both Park and Davis Avenues saw a lot of flooding. A car in the area even became submerged along Park Avenue.

“I’ve never seen anything like it in my life," Joyce Wilson said who lives in the village of Medina.

Wilson lives on Davis Avenue and she says in about two hours, she had 8 inches of rain in her basement and had to call for help.

“I called 911 and they said the fire truck will be there to pump you out," Wilson said.

Some homeowners say the rain came down quickly. While some say flooding is something they’ve experienced before, they weren’t prepared to lose their belongings.

“I’ve lived here about seven years and this is the second time I've dealt with flooding. I may have lost a washer and a dryer," Scott Allis said.

One homeowner who also had major flooding in his basement says he saw a car go off the road and into some water right in front of his home. He says he rushed outside to help.

“She was going down here and lost control she was kind of shook up but I took her in and made sure everything was alright," Ed Doran said.

Homeowners say it may take days to get all the water out of their homes.
