Thursday is 716 Day, marking a celebration of all things Western New York.

One way to celebrate is by learning about Buffalo's rich history.

Explore Buffalo opened tours last week to their members and on Thursday, they open to the general public.

Executive Director Brad Hahn says people must make reservations online in advance as a way to make paying contactless. They will also be limiting each tour group to 10 people. Everyone is required to wear a mask on the tour.

“So for us, it’s been important to make sure we have that plan clearly laid out, especially because our tours are led by volunteers,” said Hahn. “They have to want to give these tours. So the plan we prepared makes sure our volunteers giving the tours feel safe and the guests coming on the tours feel safe as well.”

Hahn says they have some new and returning tours.

"We have a whole mix of different tours,” he said. “We have about 40 tours we are offering in the month of July, so most of them are walking tours. Some of them are offered a couple times a week, some of them are only offered once or twice a month. Some of the neighborhood tours, village tours, things like that. It depends on the popularity of the tour, as well as the number of docents who give the tour.
