Peeling back the layers of history and secrets held by mummies from long ago.

The Golden Mummies of Egypt are awaiting history buffs and curious seekers alike at the Buffalo Museum of Science.

This traveling exhibit has been in town for a few weeks now and has received a big response.

Originally on display in Manchester, England, it’s on a traveling tour throughout the U.S. and the Buffalo Museum of Science is the first of only a handful of museums that will get this exhibit.

People can discover 100 artifacts and eight mummies from more than a thousand years ago, telling the stories of the ruling class of Egypt. Some of these pieces on display have never been seen before and it’s a unique honor that the museum here gets to show them off.

“It’s a tremendous undertaking to build produce and promote and exhibit for the first time anywhere,” said Marisa Wigglesworth, president and CEO of the Buffalo Society of Natural Sciences. “Really a lesser museum would not have been able to take it on. It’s a great statement of trust and the ability of the Buffalo Museum of Science.”

With the exhibit being so popular, they encourage people to buy their tickets in advance. They are sold by time slots, so while people can show up that day to buy tickets, there could be a wait if the time slots are sold.

Information on the exhibit and how to buy tickets can be found here.
