It's no secret that people in Buffalo love eating their wings, but according to Wegmans, wings are most popular on Super Bowl Sunday nationwide.

"Super Bowl is all about food in Western New York, so we have all of the food built up throughout the store for this day. We have a monster wing bar that we do as well on Super Bowl, which is like our busiest day of the year for wings," said Fred Torrell, Wegmans' executive chef.

"It's finally the time after Christmas, after dieting and exercising, you can finally splurge and have some good food again," said Buffalo resident Melissa Cominsky.

The Super Bowl is like a holiday in terms of the fact that stores are hustling and bustling. However, this event is different from Christmas and New Year's Day when it comes to preparation. For the traditional holidays, Torrell says people tend to plan ahead, whereas the Super Bowl is driven by impulse buys.

"It's an event a lot of folks aren't sure where they're going the day of sometimes. They might be thinking, 'I might stay home. It depends on the weather.' I might have friends come over... So that really varies the quantities and the types of items that they're going to get," adds Torrell

Despite the fact that many people may be leaving shopping until the last minute, Wegmans has been preparing for weeks.
